The Sunshine Blogger Award (x2)

Thank you, Madeline and Tracey, for saving me during my 'it's NaNoWriMo and I have no brain power with which to think of a post on my own' crisis. I hath been tagged for the Sunshine Blogger Award - twice!

Rules: Answer 11 questions from your nominee (I took the questions from both my nominees and answered half of them. Well, okay, eight of them - but who's counting?), tag 11 bloggers, and ask them 11 new questions. Simple ;).

The Sunshine Blogger Award Tag (x2) - Header Image

What's a book you were looking forward to so much you were scared to read it, for fear it wouldn't live up to your expectations?

Well, it was Heartless (Marissa Meyer) but I read it a few days ago and OH MY did it surpass every one of my expectations. Literally, I thought it was a book that couldn't be done - I mean, how do you take a sweet, darling girl and show how she turns into the Queen of Hearts? - but Marissa Meyer did it so well. I was astounded. Even if I did want to throw the book at the wall multiple (probably around 367) times, I enjoyed it very, very much.

What Question Would You Like To Ask One Of Your Favorite Authors?

I would like to ask Marissa Meyer how she pulled off Heartless. The End, that is all. But I would also like to ask J.R.R. Tolkien which of his characters is his favorite (come on, admit it - we all have a favorite character that we've written), or ask Nadine Brandes how she was able to weave a Christian message into her books so well.

If You Had To Describe Yourself As One Of The Four Seasons, Which Would It Be?

Maybe Spring? I would have said Autumn, but Spring has some storms, and Autumn really doesn't. And Spring has both peppy, bright days that just feel happy, but also quiet, grey days and massive storms. Those are good days for books ;).

Would You Rather Be Trapped In A Lamp, A Tower, Or An Enchanted Sleep?

Not enchanted sleep - that's not interesting at all, and I'd be terribly disoriented when I woke up. A lamp seems a little cramped ... I'd probably pick a tower, though honestly I would try not to get myself trapped in the first place xD.

If You Could Learn Any Instrument Instantly, Which Would You Chose?

Probably violin, mostly because my younger sister, Skylar, can play with the best of them, and it would be ever so much fun to play duets with her! I used to have a rented violin (I only had it for about two weeks, because it was actually a rented violin that Skylar wasn't using after she got her own, and I didn't feel like renting it again. Silly me), and we would play Zelda duets together. It was the best.

What Book/Series Would You Love To Be Made Into A TV Show/Movie?

Ooh, dear me. Can I say all of the books that I've ever loved? No? Well then. Probably ... the Lunar Chronicles would be awesome, and so would Heartless (though I'm pretty sure I would end up shrieking in the middle of the movie and refusing to watch the rest). Entwined and Illusionarium would be cool too, albeit a little creepy. And a LEGIT Inheritance Cycle (Eragon isn't even worth watching, compared to the books) movie series would be cool. And I would die to see A Branch Of Silver, A Branch Of Gold in visual form.

I'll just keep going on and on until someone stops me.

What Villain From A Book Or Movie Would You Most Love To See Transformed Into A Good Guy?

Cath from Heartless - though, she technically wasn't a villain until the end of the book *sobs in the corner for the girl that was Cath*.

What Is The Most Shocking Plot Twist You've Ever Read In A Book? (you don't have to say what it is, just what book it's from)

That's tough, seeing as I've read a ton of books with amazing plot twists. But one that I've been thinking about lately is Here, There Be Dragons (mostly because I've been trying to convince my sister to read it) because THAT LAST PAGE. Epicness. I was thrilled.

Here, There Be Dragons by James A. Owen - front cover picture infront of bookshelf

My questions:

   - Do you own any signed books?
   - What are three of the prettiest books you own?
   - What are five of your favorite blogs?
   - If you could re-write the ending of one book, which book would it be?
   - What is the last movie you watched, and what did you think of it?
   - How did you come up with the title for your blog?
   - What's one of your favorite memories from 2017 (so far)?
   - How is a raven like a writing desk?
   - What are your three favorite fandoms?
   - Do you prefer writing by hand or typing?
   - What's a story you'd like someone to do a re-telling of?

I tag:

   Micaiah @ Notebooks And Novels
Hanna @ Taking My Time
Michaila @ The Wonderkept Life
Audrey @ Audrey Caylin
Julia @ The Barefoot Gal
Abigail @ Ups & Downs
Evangeline @ An Odd Blog

And that would be that - I hope you enjoyed it! I'll try to be back in another week or so with a new post ;).

Have you read Heartless by Marissa Meyer? What's a book that you wish was a movie?

51 comments :

  1. I wish I liked Heartless as much as you did! D: I was also soooooooooooo looking forward to it. Like, The Lunar Chronicles is one of my most favorite series EVER, and my obsession with all things Alice in Wonderland is a little on the unhealthy side. So I was just so crazy excited about Heartless!!! But...I didn't enjoy it! *weeps for an eternity* I just found it was a boring romance story where Cath sat around and whined the whole time, instead of a fun, epic Wonderland story. It had SO much potential. But...nothing happened. I just found it boring. It made me saaad! BUT. I did adore Jest with all my being. And Hatter was amazing. So there's that!

But ANYWAYS. I'm glad you liked it!

It's so funny you answered with The Lunar Chronicles first for the what series should be a movie question. Because the second I read that question I thought, "THE LUNAR CHRONICLES" and then read your answer. XD I'm honestly surprised it's NOT a movie by now.

These were great questions and I loved your answers! Thanks for sharing with us! I hope Camp is going well for you! ^_^

    1. Aw, it's too bad that you didn't enjoy Heartless! I think I liked it a lot because it wasn't like anything I've ever read before - I've NEVER read a book where the main character went bad in the end. It was ... well, interesting, to say the least, but yes, I did enjoy it :D. And YES to Jest and Hatta, I loved them <3 <3. YOU should do a re-telling of Alice In Wonderland, Christine! That would be AH-MAZING.

Me too! The amount of hype and reviews that The Lunar Chronicles got is INSANE. I hope they get turned into movies sometime very soon ;).

I'm behind on my wordgoal for Camp (go figure, haha) but I think I'll catch up in the end :D. Thanks for reading, Christine! <3

    2. That is so sweet of you to say you'd like a Wonderland retelling from me!!! And it's very good to know people would be interested in that because giiiirl, I'VE BEEN PLANNING TO DO ONE SINCE I WAS A TINY CHILD. XDDD I've literally been plotting this for over half my life. I have SO many ideas. One day I'm just gonna explode with them! So...yeah. A Wonderland story from me is 100% going to happen one day! I just have SO many ideas, and love AiW SO much, I want to make it perfect, and thus keep putting it off...

    3. *gasps* YOU'RE KIDDING. I may or may not be ridiculously excited about that fact :D. Gracious, it would be the COOLEST thing if you did that! I would beta it and love it and pet the precious thing forever, oh yes. I dearly hope you write it someday! IT WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL. <3 <3 <3

  2. First of all, you're a darling for tagging me.

Second of all, THAT LAST PAGE!! When I read Here, There Be Dragons, it blew my mind. I reread it not too long ago, and I could see subtle hints here and there. Such a good plot twist. :D

    1. You're welcome! I love your posts, so why not give you a reason to do another? xD And YES, THAT LAST PAGE. It was just ... I loved it. I'm working on reading the rest of the series, and the second book is AMAZING, I love that one, too <3.

  3. I really need to read Heartless! Some people love it, some hate it, but I must read it nonetheless! The Lunar Chronicles is a FAVORITE of mine I LOVE IT SO MUCH. And I actually don't like movie/TV show adaptions? Most of the time they just end up RUINING the book (with some exceptions) so I actually wouldn't like to see any books made into a movie at all. XD (Though if it was pulled off well... THEN YES ALL THE BOOKS MUST BE MADE INTO MOVIES IMMEDIATELY.)

    1. "Some people love it, some hate it, but I must read it nonetheless!" <--- The motto of all bookworms xD. And I agree in FULL about most movies ruining the books. If the trailer to a book-turned-movie looks bad enough, I probably won't watch it. We bookworms have loyalties, you know xD.

  4. I want to read Heartless, now!!
I wish someone would make House of Dark Shadows (the whole series actually) into a movie, but they probably wouldn't be able to do it justice. It's too epic. Though they did The Lord of the Rings GREAT, though... :D

    1. It's a very different kind of story (without a happy ending) but perhaps you'll like it ;).
I'm going to see if my library has House of Dark Shadows - with how much you rave about it, I need to see what it's all about! Maybe I'll get it read this month or the next ;).

    2. Oh. I'm a sad ending hater, so this may not be the book for me... xD lol
YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!!!!! The last book is the bestest. O-o I CRIED! (I do NOT cry for books. Or movies. The only moves I've cried for are I Am Not Ashamed and The Hiding Place.)

  5. No, I haven't read that book, but now I kind of want to. lol
I wish That Dreamhouse Kings by Robert Liparulo would be made into a movie! Gracious me. It would have to be my favorite if it was made right.
I love these. I want to be a blogger so bad. I'd love to be tagged. Does it take long to make and post a blog? That might jus t be my goldfish brain, but that's what I've mainly wanted to know. :)
I mean, if I could, all the books I love would be movies. I bet if they were to make a movie for Dreamhouse Kings, they'd be gettin' so much money. *Pleads Mentally* *Begs you to beg with me*

    1. Setting up a blog doesn't take too long at all, if you know how to set it up right (I'd say ... maybe ten minutes to actually get it up and running, and then as long as you'd like to tweak with design and stuff. I could, of course, be wrong). If you want to do it, I'm open to helping you with design and setup and all that jazz if you need it!
*scrambles to see if my library has Dreamhouse Kings* I need to read those things so bad :D. My library BETTER have it ...

    2. I'll take you up on that. Though, it will probably be a little while before I can clear up all the crappy things that are taking up my time. lol But, if I see that I can later, would you be up to helping me? ^_^
It is SUCH a good book. It seems kind of like a horror book at first, but it is very much Christian. I did a review for it if you'd like to kind of get an idea of what it's about... http://anythingnovelsociety.blogspot.com/
It drives me absolutely crazy when my library doesn't have the books I want. THANK GOD they had these books. lol

    3. Of course! Don't hesitate to let me know when you're going to start on that ;). It would be so cool to have you join the community of bloggers!
My library gets most of (or already has) the books that I ask it to, so I don't deal with that problem too much :D.

    1. I'd read Lunar Chronicles first - not only because they came first, but because you'll probably decided that Marissa Meyer is terrible and you never want to read her books again if you read Heartless first xD. And YES A Time To Die! That's one of my top-favorite books, I love it so much <3.

You're welcome! I can't wait to see your answers ;).

  9. Great post! Thanks for tagging me! I'm HORRIBLE at getting around to writing tags, but they're still really fun!
After reading The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien I would guess Galadriel, Luthien, or Faramir would be Tolkien's favorite, but he never actually specifies so I'm probably wrong. ;)
Books made into movies? Well, if you mean GOOD movies that accurately represent the book, Counted Worthy and Killing Snow. #epic I'd also love to see a better-done Ivanhoe than the one we found (it was like, SO disappointing!) and some of the Elizabeth George Speare books.
Okay, stopping now, I promise. Starting bookworms down this road is risky. . . !

I seriously need to get my hands on The Letter of J.R.R. Tolkien - it sounds like something my library would have, so I'm definitely going to check!
AW, you're the best *hugs*. I'm glad you think Killing Snow would make a good movie! And Counted Worthy would be pretty epic ;). Definitely something I'd want to see.
      Thanks for reading, friend!

    2. I would definitely recommend Letters, it was super interesting!
If they did Killing Snow WELL, it'd be good, but that would be hard! I'm not sure I'd trust someone besides crazy author girl to handle Cerulean. . . And if they did him wrong, I would be SO MAD. Like seriously, they'd have to stay away from Hanna, and probably Ariel, and definitely creeks! =)

      Delete
    3. UM YEAH DUH THEY'D HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM ME. *brandishes whatever sort of guns or tazers they use on the Aeriel* xD
      -Ariel

    4. Good for you, Ariel! Let's protect Cerulean together! Okay, that sounds weird--I think Ceru can take care of himself. . . But let's be fangirls together, and make Savannah write! =)
P.S. Have you noticed that you practically have the same name as the Aeriel??

      Delete
    5. YES. *raises fist* WE WILL LOVE CERULEAN AND MAKE SAVVY WRITE. (btw I loooove how you gave him a nickname ;))
Yep, I think that was intentional. *wink*
(I feel really dumb for misspelling tasers...I MEAN I READ KILLING SNOW FOR CRYING OUT LOUD I should know how to spell tasers! xD)
      -Ariel

      Delete
    6. Actually, I think Savannah used "Ceru" first, but I'm not sure.
And I didn't honestly know how to spell tasers, either, so. . . =)

      Delete
    7. Aw, you guys *all the hugs*. You're the best fangirls an authoress could want! (and I think I would cry if they did Cerulean wrong in a movie - and yes, I used 'Ceru' fist :D) And the Aeriel may or may not be a play on somebody's name ... but I won't be the one telling ;).

      Delete
    8. Good stories attract good fangirls, my friend. =)
I think I would cry too. And I have a VERY precise picture in my head, so I'm pretty sure I would dislike whatever a filmmaker did!

  10. The books to make into movies question... There are LOTS - but as May said above, most of the time they wreck the book >.< That said, Artemis Fowl was SUPPOSED to be made into a movie (they promised...); and some movie company holds the rights to The False Prince, but they haven't started anything yet (and it's been a few years). The 39 Clues series would make a pretty cool kids' TV show, too, in my opinion.

I've heard so much about the Lunar Chronicles in the blogging circles, I picked one up at the library. It was... *Googles title, which turns out to be tricky without the title* ...'Fairest'. I thought it looked like a stand-alone/prequel-y sort of book? Apparently not (I didn't realise it was actually in the middle of a series? but not /one of/ the series?). And I have to confess... I didn't like it. (I thought it was HORRIBLE. But that's probably just me. I like my happy endings. And this was not.) *steps back, hands up* I'll still read Cinder when I can get my hands on it, though!

    (sorry, long comment!)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Ugh, yes - I hate it when the movie ruins the book. And YES, I wish Artemis Fowl would have been made into a movie! That would have been so cool - but only if they had done it right, of course xD.

I read the Lunar Chronicles Series (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter) - and Fairest was published after all of those (I think?), but yes, it's supposed to be a prequel about the villain. Some of my friends said it wasn't worth bothering with, so I never picked it up xD. So do read Cinder when you have a chance! I don't think they're anything alike :D.

(don't worry, long comments are great :D)

  11. OH MY. My #1 choice for books being adapted to screen is the Circle Series by Ted Dekker. Have you ever read any of his books? They are AMAZING. Before I read any of his books, I wasn't really a fan of fantasy (*astounded gasps from audience*). And now fantasy is my favorite genre by far, and I learned so much about writing and got so much inspiration just by reading his books. Seriously. He is amazing. That series would be SOOOO good as a TV show/movie trilogy.

  12. I've only read to like chapter 24 in Heartless because I just could not bring myself to finish it. I loved what I read I just didn't want to find out why she turned bad. I didn't even get close to the agonizing part (as my sister said), but I didn't want to not finish the book on a bad part. :)
It would be really cool to see the Lunar Chronicles made into a movie, but only if they follow the book pretty closely. I think if they made Heartless into a movie I would only watch about half of it for the same reason I didn't finish the book. :)
