To All The Young Writers

i came into this post
without

real plan

i think that much is obvious by now

but it's national
encourage a
young writer
day

and i knew i needed to tell you

that you've got this

yeah, you - with the ink on your fingers
and probably your face, too
if you're anything like
me

you've got this

the words
inside of you
mean
something

whether or not you think that at this moment

i don't know what you've got going on in your writer-ly life
right now
and
how could i?

but i do know that God gave you words, and that gives your words a meaning

writer, don't give up
don't give up
don't give up
don't give up

please don't give up

i know it's hard, and i know
it hurts sometimes
because i'm a writer, too
so i get it

well, not all of it

i know you're different than i am
we all are
so i can't fully understand - but I know that we all
have words

words that are needed - so don't give up

writer, don't give up
your words have a purpose
your words are needed
i promise you that this is going to be worth it in the end

writer, don't give up

we're going to make it

~ Savannah Grace

  1. Yes, we all are going to make it. All we need to do is keep pushing towards our goals, and trust what God wants us to do. Follow God's calling-that's the only way to succeed in life.
I love what you wrote, Savannah! :)

  6. This is so beautiful, Savannah! I know you probably meant this for people who are actually like, writing stories, but I couldn't help reading these words as if they were written for song writers as well. :-) Seriously girl, this is amazing, and so inspiring! THANK YOU for posting this!

    1. Well, both song writers and story writers do their best to put emotion in their words and make it sound as beautiful as it can ;). So we do have some things in common! :D So glad this inspired you. <3

  13. GIIIIIIRL. YOUR WORDS. SO MUCH GORGEOUS. And woooow. This is SUCH a timely post, because I've been having these EXACT SAME THOUGHTS running through my brain for the last few days! I just keep thinking how hard the writing life is, and how easy it is to just give up. But it's so, SO worth it to keep on. No matter where you are in your writing life--published, not published, new to writing, been writing forever--it doesn't matter. It just matters that we KEEP ON. God gave us each this passion for a reason, and as long as we continue to pursue it, He'll put us exactly where we need to be.

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS! I had no idea it was encourage a young writer day, but you accomplished it ten times over! This was JUST the encouragement I needed. Thank you for being such a blessing, Savannah! *hugs*

  17. Aw, great poem! I've been sort of cringeing at my current story because the main reason a character hates another character is SO weak and it's the main conflict, so I have to strengthen it, but I have no idea how. o.O
    Siiiiiiighhhhh...
    Anyway, great post again! :D

  24. ASDJSLSLDHAL HOW DID I JUST NOW SEE THIS?! Oh my stars...SAVANNAH. You words are too beautiful and epic for me to describe. <333

Just...thank you so much for this. Not gonna lie, this month has been SO tough in terms of writing. Things finally started working out on Friday--I had my FIRST day where I actually loved my story. I finally fell in love with it. That doesn't there won't be the plot holes, inconsistencies, repetitive descriptions, and rambling plot--but I love it for all its flaws anyway. Still, it's hard to keep writing. I just have to remember that I'm writing for Someone greater than my inadequacies.

THANK YOU AGAIN, SAV! This post really touched my heart. You are the best, okay? (And KEEP WRITING. I want to read Killing Snow pleaseeeee.)
