Gemma Ebworthy is eighteen, pregnant, and alone. Now that she's been evicted, she finds herself sleeping in a barn, never dreaming that tomorrow could bring kindness of a life-changing magnitude. The Martins aren't a typical family—even for rural Kansas. With more kids than can be counted on one hand and a full-time farm, Gemma must make a lot of adjustments to fit in. But despite their many differences, Gemma finds herself drawn to this family and their radical Christian faith. When Gemma's past collides with her yet again, she must begin revealing her colorful history. With every detail Gemma concedes, she fears she will lose the Martins' trust and the stable environment she desires for herself and her unborn child. Just how far can the Martins' love and God's forgiveness go?

 Abigayle has been inspired to write since she could spell her own name. Her passion wasn’t completing the stories (she did that twice and decided it wasn’t for her), it was jotting down the ideas.

But in 2015, a story grabbed her—one she had to finish. Inspired by a crazy dream in a genre she no longer reads, Abigayle set off on a journey to write her first novel and she hasn’t looked back since.

Writing is her ministry, freelance editing her job, and reading her pastime—all of which prove that God really does know what He’s doing when He inspires a 6-year-old with a pencil in her left hand.

   What do you think is the hardest part of editing? Do you have any questions for Abi? Have you been able to get your hands on Martin Hospitality yet?

    The hardest part of editing for me is when I have to change the characters or their background story. I have to change it in every part the character is in in my book. It is SO annoying!!!
    Abi, how's you get the inspiration to write that novel? It sounds very interesting. :)
    I would love to read it.

      How did you finally know when your book was officially done? Was it hard to get it published?

      Changing characters is HARD, I agree - adding characters in is also pretty tricky. I'm currently trying to do that, and OH MY is it more complicated than I thought it would be xD.

      I'm so glad it sounds interesting! I agree that sort of editing can be very difficult.

      I mainly got the inspiration from a strange dream I had. I was reading a Beverly Lewis now at the time and my aunt was moving to Kansas, so all of that gave me the initial idea. Once it didn't leave me alone and I sat down to plot it, it came together much easier than previous story ideas and that was my motivation to finish :)

      Hehe, it was hard to know when it was done. I'm a perfectionist, so it was never going to be done. I had to send it to my formatter though, and I had finished going through it with all the editing. So it had to be finished. I only found a couple little things that I paid the formatter extra to change afterward. It was the deadline that made me quit tweaking ;)

      I selfpublished the novel, so no it wasn't that hard. But all the responsibility was on me and all the timing really worked out just according to God's mercy XD It was a little stressful but completely worth it!!

      Your welcome! Thank YOU busy for the awesome advice. That's neat that you got some of it from a dream. I think that editing and changing the characters and plot is going to be the hard part for me. UGH!!! I wish it would edit itself! :| hehe
      Well, it's going to be hard but with God's help, I'll get it done. Your tips will really help when I start to edit. xD How much did it cost to get your book self published? Do you know how hard it would be to get it published by someone else? How do you get a formatter? Sorry about all the questions. :)

    Ooo, what a cover! That's a very well-written summary. Flows perfectly. For me the hardest part of editing is getting deeper than the surface, making fundamental changes to a story that, on its surface is just fine, but that could be improved through completely reconstructing certain parts (or even the whole story).

      Isn't it wonderful? I'm going to have to check out more work by Abi's cover artist ;). Reconstructing bits of a story is definitely hard - mostly because I have to change the characters to go with the new bits of the story. But it's definitely worth it in the end!

      I'm so glad you like the cover and summary! They were both hard work :P Not that I can take credit for the cover.

      And I agree that this is possibly the hardest part of editing for me too! I had to do a lot of deeper changes to MY and it was tough. Strengthening a theme in the last draft? Not fun. Giving that character a deeper purpose so readers don't skim over him ... blech. It was worth it, though!

    The hardest part of editing (which I'm going through right now) is probably taking all your hand edited work and fixing them on the computer. Editing is such a fun and tough process! XD

      I actually LOVE typing up all my stuff on the computer, for some reason xD. It's the easier way for me to edit - which is why, whenever I need to edit another draft, I re-type the entire thing xD. And I agree - somehow it's both fun and hard! I just love seeing the end product, I think ;).

    Sounds interesting! I'd love to hear what you think of it after you read it! I hadn't heard of Martin Hospitality before you and Mary posted about the cover. . . I'm not usually crazy about realistic fiction, but it sounds like it could be really good!

      I'll probably be posting a review as soon as I'm done with it - my copy is arriving on Friday, and I'm pretty excited! And I normally don't read much realistic fiction either, but I couldn't pass up this one xD.

      Yay your copy comes soon!!!! I can't wait to hear what both of you think :)

      I used to read lots of Beverly Lewis and He ette Omw when I was younger and I don't have much patience for it now. So I was surprised Christian Contemporary was the genre of my first novel! But I really strove to make the genre what I thought it should be and so far I've gotten positive feedback on that :)

I love when my readers leave a comment or three (so thank you if you do!)! But keep 'em clean, because I don't want to need to delete them. And check back - I always try to reply.
