So, I'm finally taking the jump. Who wants to beta Asher Grey?
Before you skip down to fill out the form for beta reading at the end of this post, you probably want to know some more about the story, huh? Well, I'll be nice, and not let you all jump in blind xD. I did a post about it last month (and there's some stuff about it on my 'writings' page), but here's some more info ...
- the book is currently 30k words long (I've already cut 15k from it and I still need to cut more, so #help)
- it's a Snow White retelling
- I'll send it to you on the 8th of November, and the deadline to finish it is the 22nd of November (exactly two weeks after, so plenty of time, seeing as Asher Grey is a teeny little book)
- I probably won't be able to accept all the betas who fill out the form. I know, I know - it's strange, and wish I could let all of you read it and help with the editing process, but I just don't have the time for that many betas right now. So probably ten-or-so of you guys who fill out the form will actually be able to read it. I'm so sorry!
... and I think that's about it. If you guys have any more questions, leave a comment, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Whether or not you're actually able to beta, your interest in my story means so much to me - you guys are the best! <3

so ... did you sign up?
and how's NaNoWriMo going for you guys?
I hope I get to read this! I love retellings, and is it for the Roogle Wood Press contest? If so, that's cool I'm entering too!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda wishy-washy about whether or not I'm going to enter it (I'd really like to, but it's 10k words over the word limit!), but it's SO cool that you're entering a story! It would be so neat if we both won :D. What's the title of your novella for the contest?
DeleteGood luck with this. I'm already beta reading another story for this contest this month, so I don't think I'll sign up this time, but your story sounds amazing. I can't wait to learn more. Good luck and have fun. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy editing. <3

Haha, that's fine! And I'm glad that you like the sound of Asher Grey ;).
DeleteSO EXCITING. <3 <3 I'm so pumped for you and your smol precious story. :D
ReplyDeleteEXCITING AND YET TERRIFYING xD. Thanks a billion, Prill! <3
DeleteI'd love to beta read, but I'm kind of swamped right now. I hope that someday I get to read it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're able to read it someday, too! That'd be so cool <3.
DeleteYou've worked so hard on Asher Grey, and it's great that you've gotten to this stage already - go you! Best of luck to you for the editing process!
ReplyDeleteThank you so, so much, Vera! <3 I'm excited to see where it goes from here :D.
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS FOR BEING AT THE BETA STAGE. I am so excited for you! I so wish I could be a part of this, but with NaNoWriMo, I'm feeling a bit too pressed for time to be able to devote the attention to detail that your book deserves. <3 I'm excited hear how it goes.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH, EVANGELINE! Yeah, I knew that November would be a really bad time for betas, but seeing as I have a deadline, I didn't have much choice xD. I'll definitely be updating y'all on Asher Grey's progress!
DeleteOh man I would LOVE to read it! But with NaNoWriMo right now and everything else, I doubt I'd have time to actually invest into it. :( I hope you do get some helpful feedback on it, though. And good luck with the Rooglewood Press contest!
ReplyDeleteYeah, NaNoWriMo definitely makes things complicated :D. Thank you so much, my friend! <3
DeleteUGH I WANT TO BETA MY CHILD (WHICH I CLAIM BECAUSE I ALPHA-ED IT) BUT NANO AND IM TRAVELLING THIS IS SO UPSETTING but i’m so proud of you <3
ReplyDeleteAH, I WISH YOU COULD BETA THIS, TOO - but it's actually not Killing Snow ;D. KS is the one you alphaed, but Asher Grey is a whole different story. I'm excited to let y'all know where this story goes! <3
DeleteWell I'm not signing up because... I still have to beta read for another writer and I'm a slow reader xD
ReplyDeleteNaNoWriMo is going okay, I guess...I wrote about 1K almost everyday.
Haha, that's perfectly fine! Beta reading two projects at the same time WOULD get pretty crazy xD.
DeleteOh wow, that's a lot better than I'm doing right now - keep it up! <3
Eek, so excited for this next step!
ReplyDeleteSo...... I alpha-ed. Does that mean I don't beta? (I noticed Rachael Steele said she also alpha-ed.) I'll read this story as many times as you'd like me to. =)
So am I! I'm hoping that it goes well :D.
DeleteYou can absolutely still beta! It'll be great to have your eyes go over it again ;).
Oh my goodness! I would love to do this so much, but I don't think I'd be able to work to my fullest for your book and do my best with my other projects. :\ I have to beta read for someone else possibly at the end of the month as well, and I think I'm a few days too late to fill out the form. (I'm sure the 10 betas have already snatched up the offer. lol) I hope editing goes well, and I know you've done a great job! ;)
ReplyDeleteI would sign up, but I'm already signed up to beta read for someone else... :/
ReplyDeleteSavannah,
ReplyDeleteI need a beta-reader for my Rooglewood Snow White retelling. I'd be happy to swap with you, if you still need a reader. ~Esther @ commandedwriter.blogspot.com
