Half of 2018 has flown and the second half is soaring in! Summer is officially here and I. Am. Happy. <3 June was a very good (and hectically busy) month - want to hear about it?
Oh gracious me. What DID I do in June? Well, we had relatives come up to visit for a week, and we celebrated my sweet second cousin's birthday, which was SO FUN. I always love having them up here, we have a blast. (we also may or may not have shot off a rocket in our front yard and got it stuck in a tree...*sheepish grin*)
And I'm also working on revamping my bookshelf! It's a tan-brown kind of color right now, and I'm painting it white and reorganizing it so that I can use it for book pics. I'll show you guys when its done ;).
Art! Art has happened! (now pay attention to the fact that I didn't say it was GOOD art...) I started out drawing in notebooks and...usual things...but then I switched over to something a little different. Now I art in my actual books. 'WHAT??' you're probably shrieking as you hide your books away. BUT! But! I have reasons! I only art in the books I have two copies of (which is, surprisingly, quite a few xD). Right now Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident is being scribbled in. And somehow there ended up being a doodle of Blue Sargent in there? Don't know how that works? But it happened and I don't question it. *continues scribbling*
And we celebrated my second-youngest sister's birthday yesterday! (I may have ate way too much ice cream while reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue...) Happy birthday, Jaidyn! <3
Oh my. Oh dear. This section is going to be full.
FIRST OF ALL: I finished up The Genie Bone and submitted it to the Oath and Iron anthology! Massive THANK YOUs to my alphas and betas. Shout-out to True, Chloe, Micaiah, Faith, Hanna, Audrey, Lisa, Soleil, Skylar, and Ariel! (Forgive me if I'm forgetting anyone - my brain has been fried since yesterday when I sent it in xD) You guys definitely helped that story a ton <3. It's honestly one of my favorite things I've written, so I'm hoping it does well!
SECOND OF ALL: I finished co-writing my first story! The epic Soleil and I coauthored a story for the Oath and Iron anthology and OH MY GRACIOUS. If you guys have writing friends and you haven't coauthored a story yet, DO IT. It's so very much fun, I had a blast writing The Star's Shadow with Soleil! (you're the best, my friend <3)
THIRD OF ALL: I got published again! A piece of my flash fiction, The Threat, was published in Splickety's Heirs and Spares issue. So that was super cool <3.
FOURTH OF ALL: Major headway has happened with Forgotten - remember that 20k novella that I entered in the Rooglewood writing contest? Well, it's now sitting pretty at 58k and I just submitted it to an agent. We'll see what comes of that, but I am VERY excited!
FIFTH OF ALL: The 100-for-100 Go Teen Writer's challenge is going swimmingly! I haven't missed a day yet, and most days I've written 1,000+ words. It's been a blast! We'll see if I can keep up that speed when I'm at Realm Makers xD.
SIXTH OF ALL: I know I'm forgetting something. So here's me saying I know I forgot something xD.
+ The Backwards Season by Lauren Myracle |
WHOO you can tell that summer is finally here xD. I've read SO MANY good books (and I wish I could review them all but TIME. Time is a thing) this month and I'm super excited to
- All The Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater. I LOVED IT. But it's Stiefvater, so I mean...could you expect anything else? I adored The Scorpio Races, so when All The Crooked Saints came out, I absolutely had to read it! And I adored this book - it actually was cleaner than The Scorpio Races, which was super super nice. 4.5 stars to this epic book <3.
- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. IT'S LIKE THE PLAGUE I CAN'T STOP READING HER BOOKS. Right off the bat, this book is not clean (F-bombs are used multiple times and WOW does Stiefvater like her swearing) but THE CHARACTERS. The plot line. Just her writing style is the most epic thing ever. And did I mention that I am deathly attached to these characters? Oh dear. Once I'm done with the series (I finished the second book and I'm starting the third!), I'll review it for y'all. 4.5 stars. <3
- The Scourge by Jennifer Nielsen. This author never disappoints (she's one of my top favorites of ever! <3), so when I found a copy of this at a thrift store, I snagged it. And then read it. And then loved it (SHOCKER) xD. The main character was so sassy and perfectly GOLDEN, I loved her. 4 stars to this lovely book!
- A Sea of Purple Ink by Rebekah Shafer. Okay, first off, that cover? I mean <3. And the inside of the book is just as gorgeous as the outside! I was actually (and pleasantly!) surprised by the world building, it was AMAZING. And the characters! I just! The "magic" system (it wasn't actual magic, but I can't think of another way to describe it) is so unique <3. 4 stars, and definitely check this one out!
- Circus Mirandus by Cassie Beasley. I randomly nabbed this one when I saw that it was about the circus (what can I say? I like circus stories), and it was different from what I expected. But in a good way! I really loved this middle grade story, it was such a sweet book. 4.5 stars to this one <3 <3 <3
I know. I skimped. I'm sorry. But I was on multiple deadlines (still am...) so I'm giving myself a pass this time xD. I would promise that I'll do better in July, BUT I'll be taking a hiatus for Realm Makers, so...we'll see xD. I'll try!
- CAIT IS PUBLISHED AND IT IS LOVELY *dies*
- Micaiah Saldana did a three-part blog series about strong female characters, which I LOVED (she also wrote this piece of flash fiction that you will cry smol tears over if you read it <3)
- The Penprints Flash Fiction Dash happened, which was tons of fun, even if I didn't get my entry done in time ;D. Everyone else did amazing! <3
- Christine, Faith, AND Rachael did my Get To Know Me Tag: Writer's Edition which basically made my day <3 and (if any of YOU have done this tag and I haven't mentioned you yet, drop a link in the comments so I can check it out! <3)
- Lisa over at Inkwell celebrated a lovely blog birthday AND she's having an epic contest with an epic prize, so you guys need to go check that out and give her some love! <3 <3
- The cover for Mary Weber's upcoming book, To Best The Boys, was revealed and OH MY GOOD GRACIOUS. My eyeballs are happy <3 <3 <3.
Honestly? I have no idea! July is going to be a hectic, wild month (writing deadlines! life things! fourth of July! REALM MAKERS! <3), but I'm hoping to get a few posts in for you guys ;). We'll see what happens! I may or may not have a special one coming up on the 7th...shh...
ANYways, I think that's about it. Shout with me in the comments about all the books you read this month (and let me know if you've read any of the ones I read!) - and tell what fun stuff y'all did this month! I hope all of you had an awesome June <3.
Keep being epic, my frens!
~ Savannah Grace
how was your June?
chat with me, y'all! <3
*gasps* MY NAME IS IN THIS!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHH *dies*
ReplyDeleteAhem. Anyways.
You shot off a rocket???!!!!! Awesome! And oooooh, I’ll have to check out Mary Weber’s new book!
Great wrap-up post, Savannah! Looking forward to July!
HOW COULD I NOT INCLUDE YOU?? You were so sweet to do my tag! <3
DeleteYES, definitely check it out! Her new book has a super-interesting premise, I can't wait for it to come out. Thank you, Rachel! HERE'S TO AN EPIC JULY
Girl. GIRL. How do you write so much?????? I NEED YOUR SECRETS. Oh my goodness gracious, I am so in awe at you. And you got published in Splickety again? AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR. Or, um, writingstar! ;D And entering contests. AND YOU SENT A NOVEL TO AN AGENT? *SHRIEKS* Wow wow wow wow! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. And in awe. How do you do this stuff so FAST?! You have magic fingers! I hope ALL of that goes well for you! :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like you also read some epic books! I REALLY want to read All the Crooked Saints, since it seems to be one of the few clean Stiefvater books. (I desperately want to read The Raven Cycle but I just don't want to deal with that much swearing. Blerrrgh.)
Thanks for the shoutout of my post. I LOVED doing your tag! :D
Okay but SAVANNAH. In literally LESS THAN 3 WEEKS we are going to meet. Face-to-face. REALM MAKERS IS ALMOST HEEEEEEEERE!!!!!! I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING ABOUT IT. July is gonna be AH-MAY-ZIIIING! *twirls*
*shoves all my secrets towards you* It's called TAKING ON WAY TOO MUCH and then DYING AT THE END xD. But OH MY GRACIOUS, THANK YOU SO MUCH, LAURI <3 <3 <3. You're the sweetest! <3
DeleteYES, All The Crooked Saints <3. It was pretty different from the stuff she's written before, but I still greatly enjoyed it. And honestly, if you're not DYING to read The Raven Cycle (...I was dying, I needed more Stiefvater after All The Crooked Saints...), I don't know if I'd recommend it. The swearing is really bad (I kinda trained my brain to skip over it xD), and there was content in book 4 that had me skipping a few pages just so I didn't have to read it. So xD.
YOU'RE SO WELCOME - it made me grin when I saw it in my Blogger feed!
I KNOW. I STILL DON'T THINK ITS FULLY HIT ME YET. LESS THAN THREE WEEKS, CHRISTINE! LESS!! Oh my gracious I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU AND SCREAM AT YOU AND GIVE YOU A HUG <3 <3 <3. It's going to be SO. MUCH. FUN!
Sounds like a thoroughly epic month! HUGE CONGRATS ON GETTING INTO SPLICKETY! I've been meaning to snag myself a copy of Heirs and Spares, and now that I know you're in it, I DEFINITELY have to! How in the world are you so productive, writing all this stuff and submitting it and coauthoring and and and--?! <3
ReplyDeleteI just read All the Crooked Saints myself and LOVED IT. I was so happy it was cleaner than TRC.
Realm Makers is so clooooose and I get to meet you soooooon and I CAN'T WAIT! *screams*
Whoa, whoa, whoa, WAIT. Savannah gets to meet Tracy??? I'm so jealous!!
DeleteAw, wish you were coming too, Hanna!
DeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH, Tracey! Oh my gracious, you're the best <3 <3 <3. I do hope you enjoy my piece!
DeleteIT'S CALLED DYING. VERY SLOWLY. AS I'M DOING TOO MUCH STUFF xD.
YES, wasn't it great? It was so different from the other stuff she's written, and yet IT WAS SO GOOD <3.
ASJHGLAGSLJ I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU FACE-TO-FACE AND HUG YOU AND SCREAM ABOUT ALL THE THINGS! ;D Not much longer to wait!!
(Hanna, I'm SO dragging you along with me to a writing conference one of these day ;D. I'll take lots of pictures for ya! <3)
*gasp* WILL I FIT IN YOUR SUITCASE, SAVANNAH??
DeleteWE CAN SURE SEE ;D
DeleteBest of luck with the agent! Oh, and congrats on getting published! That's amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll those gorgeous books, I must have them!
Thank you so much, Skye! I'm excited <3
DeleteYES *shoos you to the nearest bookstore* you must read them ALL! ;D
THE GENIE BONE. <3 <3 <3 Good luck, little story!! Hugs and kisses.
ReplyDeleteSavannah, how on earth did you read ALL THE BOOKS and also write ALL THE THINGS??? I don't understand. *suspicious glance* I think you're something superhuman. . .
Aw, I'm glad you liked A Sea of Purple Ink better than I did. =) Rebekah Shafer has a lot of talent, even if I don't love everything she did with her characters. And OMG YES, THAT COVER. <3 I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on her 'A Twist of Fae' series (which I haven't read).

The story appreciate your fangirling muchly ;D <3 <3 <3
DeleteI DON'T KNOW, I THINK I'M DEAD NOW. *passes out* And you were totally right about Rebekah Shafer's worldbuilding! It was to die for <3. I'll have to check out her next book really soon...
Your month sounds awesome! :)) My June was busy...lots of swim team and a last-minute family vacation and the 100-4-100 challenge (which is going really well! :D).
ReplyDeleteTHE RAVEN CYCLE!!! <3 <3 So glad that you're enjoying it! I LOVE it so much--although all the swearing and that one couple in The Raven King :((. Otherwise though, it's such a magical and beautiful series. the characters *heart eyes*
GRACIOUS, it sounds like you had an epic month! It's cool that you're on a swim team, and I'm glad that the 100-for-100 is going well! It's one of my favorite writing challenges ;).
DeleteAAAAAHHHH YAS. I can't properly recommend it for those reasons but I CERTAINLY LOVE IT ;D. The characters are some of the best I've ever seen *hugs them all*
I'm glad you had a good month! Here's to an even better July!
ReplyDeleteArt is so much fun isn't it?! And drawing in books sounds so aesthetic and fun. :D
Also, Maggie Stiefvater's writing is SO good, I totally get why you're obsessed. XD
It seriously is - if you have double copies of any of your books ART IN THEM. I command it ;D.
DeleteISN'T IT JUST?? She's a master <3
Wow! So much cool stuff going on! Sounds like a pretty great month!
ReplyDeleteIt really was! Here's to an equally awesome July, for both of us! <3
DeleteReading the Raven Cycle while eating ice cream??? That sounds like heaven. AND I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU'RE ENJOYING THEM. Yes, there is a fair bit of swearing, but if it's going to be in there at all, I'm glad that it's in a character telling way. <3 Maggie is a genius.
ReplyDeleteIT WAS EPIC (except...I may have let the ice cream melt some...because I was so into the book...and then I ended up having to drink half of it instead of eating it...because it got so melted xD). YES I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. There's definitely some issues, BUT THE CHARACTERS <3 <3 <3. So much love for them.
DeleteAw, thanks so much for linking to my series and flash fiction, you're so sweet! <3 AND YES TO BEST THE BOYS LOOKS SO GOOD. Did you see that Nadine Brandes has another book coming up as well? the cover hasn't released yet, but it's called Romanov. I stumbled across it on Goodreads... AND I AM SO EXCITED.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I see that you read For Love and Honor. I love that book-the whole series, actually. What did you think of it?
Hope you have a wonderful July!
Micaiah @ Notebooks and Novels
You're welcome, Micaiah! They were seriously epic <3 <3 <3.
DeleteAJSGLHGALSJGHJGA I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUR ROMANOV UNTIL YOU TOLD ME. So I went to check it out and NOW. I. AM. DYING. I need it I need it I need it *grabby hands* ;D. I CAN'T WAIT!
It was SO good! I didn't like the first book very much (it just kind of bored me a little?), but THE SECOND ONE <3. And the third one managed to beat it! Sabine was such an epic character, I love her <3 <3 <3.
Same to you, my friend! Can't wait for Dear Jamie, Love Rory <3
Oh my gosh, Savannah, you've gotten so much done in this past month - like, how? Teach me your powers.
ReplyDeleteBut congrats on getting punished in Splickety! And you submitted something to an agent?!! I wish you the very best of luck to you on that, but congratulations for getting there, either way! That is such an amazing accomplishment and such a great step!!
Hope you have an amazing July and have fun at Realm Makers!!

*puts on crown and stands up straight* ONE MUST BE PREPARED TO NEARLY /PASS OUT/ WITH EXHAUSTION. The end. *steps down from podium* xD. Legit though, I don't know how I read that many books this month - I WAS LEGIT SO BUSY. I think it has something to do with how late I stay up reading each night *cough* xD
DeleteThank you so much, Ivie!! I'm super excited about it - I'll let you guys know if that goes anywhere!
I hope you have an epic July, too! <3 (I'll take lots of pics for y'all at RM ;))
Great post!!!
